As a woman and a mother, I can attest to pregnancy as being one of the most exciting and exhilarating times in a person’s life. Full of nerves and beauty (and a little bit of growing pains), it’s a rollercoaster from start to finish. Maternity photography sessions aim to capture all the magic of this special 40 weeks in a matter of minutes. We brought all of that joy to life during this touching maternity photography session at Wilson Lake.

A Growing Family

This beautiful soon-to-be mother of two is anxiously awaiting the arrival of her second son. To celebrate, we included a very excited big brother in our maternity session. He was so excited to be at the lake, albeit slightly disappointed that Mom wasn’t taking him fishing. Although I doubt anything would be biting, as our expected sunny day turned out to be rather cold and windy.

Adorned with the most perfect baby bump, this gorgeous momma and I got to work. Avoiding the wind was a challenge, but we do live in Kansas after all, and Wilson Lake is no stranger to windy days. Despite the weather, we were able to get some precious shots of Big Brother all snuggled up with moms adorable belly. His smile speaks volumes and absolutely melted my heart. He even got to feel a few kicks during the session, which prompted the sweetest grins.

Maternity Photography at the Lake

The lake was gorgeous in the misty and overcast day, and even with the clouds, the afternoon was bright and full of life. The sounds of the water and the geese overhead gave a great vibe to this maternity session. Mother Nature was at her finest, even if it wasn’t ideal for a photography shoot.

In the end, we were left with a quick session full of sweet candid shots of mother, bump, and son, as well as gorgeous photos of an absolutely glowing expectant mother. Maternity photography is so special, and I was so happy to be apart of capturing this beautiful time in life for a growing family.
