Iconic Empty Nesters in Ellsworth, KS: A Couples Photography Session

After raising five kids, Mike and Marideth were due to celebrate their love for an afternoon. And boy, did we have a good time doing it. From sweet couples’ shots, to a literal empty nest, this session had it all. I had such a blast shooting with these iconic empty nesters in Ellsworth, KS, and capturing their candid moments.

Ellsworth is a small town, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t full of beautiful backdrops for a couples session. We had no trouble finding creative spots to shoot. As far as couples go, these two take the cake for the raddest couple in the state. Our time was spent laughing and exploring, and in the end we got some wonderful (and hilarious) photos.

Celebrating Each Other

Mike and Marideth raised five kids between the two of them, the oldest of which is now 26, and the youngest is 18. I think the idea of a session like this is absolutely ingenious. Not only did we get to celebrate them as a couple, but they now have photos of the two of them to cherish, along with their kids.

Smiles all Around

This wonderful couple was full of smiles for the entirety of the shoot. We did lots of spinning, walking, hip-bumping, and twirling which really brought out the laughs. I love these kinds of activities, especially in a couples’ shoot. There’s really nothing better than getting to spend an afternoon laughing with your partner.

Happily Ever After

All in all, these iconic empty nesters and I had a wonderful afternoon couples session. I am so stoked for them to start their journey as parents-of-adult-children. It’s so exciting for them to be at the beginning of “happily ever after.” They are some of the coolest and sweetest people I know, and deserve nothing but the absolute best. It was an honor to get to capture them in this way.

“The grass isn’t greener anywhere other than side by side. There’s no one on this planet I’d rather spend my days with. I’ll stay beside you forever.”

-Marideth H.
