First Session in the Books

2023, I’ve decided, is the year of pursuing passions. Last year was full of ups and downs (mostly ups, but, ya know) and this year has lent itself to a new start. Join me on this journey of creativity and learning. I am so excited to share these photos with you, as I finally have my first session in the books.

Family Photo Session

What better way to start in family photography than with your own family? I am lucky enough to have amazing siblings and an awesome mom who were more than down to work with me on this session.

I wanted to include a lot of movement in these family photos, and also wanted to give them an afternoon that they would enjoy. A few of us are all grown up now, so it’s not very often that we all get together in the midst of our busy lives. Above are my two beautiful sisters who also happen to be best friends.

I love the idea of being able to catch the fun, silly moments that happen when you get a family together. Usually these interactions slip by without a second thought, but in front of the camera, they last forever. It’s not often that a family gets to see themselves truly enjoying each others’ presence. But it’s seriously beautiful; not only in the moment, but in the photographs as well.

For this session we visited Lakewood Park in Salina, KS. The trees are still bare from the winter, but we were lucky enough to have wonderful golden-hour sunlight and amazing temperatures, especially for February.

All in all, the session was a hit. Not only was it a wonderful learning experience as my first “real” session, but my mother and siblings has a blast as well. The afternoon was full of real smiles and genuine laughs, and I could not have asked for a better session.

And just like that, I have my first session in the books.
